September Writing Exercise – Poetry

Here is a list of words:

moonlight
bread
signal
yellow
sheet
newspaper
chair
velvet
milk
leaf

Without thinking too hard about it, jot down the first
word association that comes to mind.

For example – my new list would be:

coin
yeast
toothpaste
custard
linen
magpie
throne
cream
leak
gold

Using your new list – create a poem using one of the words
in each line.

    Hi Sue,
My effort on this months blog!
I will always remember the feeling of desolation
the last time I saw him turn and walk away.
The woodland path was narrow and overgrown,
the moon high and full of promise, but
on that last journey home I knew there was no hope.
